In our last Bliss Bite we talked about the Sagittal Plane. This week I’d love to focus on the Frontal Plane.

The frontal plane divides the body in half front (anterior) to back (posterior).  So, imagine a glass plane sliding through the middle of your body dividing it in half separating the front side of the body from the back side.  Any movement that happens in this plane happens side-to-side from the middle of your body (medial) out to the sides (lateral) and vice versa.  Sweeping your arms out to the sides and up, stepping side-to-side, stepping your feet wide in a star shape, a side bend are all movements that happen in the frontal plane.

Check out this video for a brief practice focused on moving in the frontal plane – have fun!
