Take a load off & renew your energy

Just about every day I pause and put my legs up the wall or onto a chair. Sometimes I stay for 1 or 2 minutes, other times up to 15 (so delicious!), depending on my schedule.

Pausing to rest my body and to breathe consciously in this shape is the most wonderful reset. Inevitably, my mind slows down and my nervous system downshifts.  There is a physiological response that happens when we bring our legs up above our heart and brain and rest them.  But more importantly, the residue that remains with me after the pose is one of calmness, presence, ease, perspective and renewed focus and energy.

Why not take a moment right now and lie down with your legs elevated? Set a timer for however you long you can stay there, and savor the stillness and quiet.
