For the JOY of it!

The other day I went for a run.  I was a little less energized than I wanted to be, but I knew that on the other side of my run I would feel stronger, more awake, energized and overall better. So, I dragged myself out the door and started out slowly – walking at first and then gradually hitting my regular stride.

As I was running, my body, little by little, began to loosen up, and my mind started to unclench, and my breath started to flow.  The thought of our theme of joy popped into my head.  And I realized…I’m not training for any races or anything right now...I can just run for fun…I can do this however I want.  I can run, I can walk, I can skip, or chasse. I can stop in the middle and do some squats and balance work.  The possibilities were limitless. I can run just for the joy of running and moving!!! It doesn’t matter how many miles I run or how fast I go!

What a great run it turned into…running for the joy of running – no other goal.

What is something that you LOVE to do? Do you sometimes attach an agenda or expectation around doing it? The next time you do it, can you do it solely for the JOY of doing it?

Shoot me an email and let me know how it goes…
