I am always in awe of animals and learn so much from them, babies too!

When Maddie was three-months old, she fell asleep in the middle of a big family gathering.  No matter the lights and the laughter, she was tired and fell asleep until the next morning.  Soupy, my now 15-year-old hound mix is the same. When he is tired or doesn’t feel well, he rests.  Like baby Maddie, he pays attention to the signs his body shares with him and honors them.  Unlike me, who still tends to push through the tired to get one more thing done.  (Admittedly, I am improving as I’m only aiming to get ONE more thing done, not 10! )

My eternally questioning mind asks::

  • What’s behind the pushing?  Is it to prove our inner resolve?  Is it the burden of too much to do?
  • What if we didn’t push or resist so much? And is that even possible?
  • What if we listened to and honored the inner tapping of our wisdom and rested when we were tired, ate when we were hungry, moved when we felt stiff, paused when we felt overwhelmed and simply breathed for a moment…?
  • What if we could simply listen to the wisdom and guidance within?  What would that be like - how would that feel?

I don’t have the answers…yet…but I think the questions are important.  To me they feel like the first steps toward change as well as toward knowing myself better and living more mindfully.

Just some thoughts to ponder…

If you’re in need of a little rest here is a simple Savasana practice- all you need is one blanket and five minutes - go!!

One blanket side lying savasana

Check out my classes here and let's move together!
