Deep Rest...you need it!

The other day I found myself preparing for class and feeling completely exhausted. I had had a bad night’s sleep the previous night, a full day, and had almost nothing left to teach my evening class. Savasana called to me, so I set my timer for 15 minutes and lay down, covering myself with 2 blankets. The weight and warmth of the blankets and the darkness led me into complete release and the deep rest I needed. After this delicious Savasana I felt so refreshed and energized, so much so that I didn’t feel ready to go to sleep when my bedtime arrived.

Giving ourselves the time to be still and quiet and to consciously rest is so vital to our well-being. Not only can it refill our tanks, as Savasana did for me, but it can give us the pause – the reset – that allows us to move through the rest of our day with a little more energy and clarity.

With that in mind, I wanted to share with you a Savasana practice. Wouldn’t it be nice to offer this to yourself every day for the rest of this year? What a great practice that would be!
