Think back to April 2020.   What a time we were in!

I remember learning that Maddie's school was not going to re-open for the rest of the school year and just how overwhelmingly sad that felt - for her, for me, for our relationship, which felt tender and tenuous as I took on the role of teacher, as well as parent, as well as one of the two people she was stuck hanging around with 24/7.

The stress I was experiencing felt so overwhelming - there didn't seem to be an end in sight.

I remember feeling so depleted and low in my energy...hopeless at times. I was so grateful to have my yoga practice to turn to – to get me moving and breathing – to be a place of respite and refuge -  to help me physically experience the change that happens through our asana practice, which reminded me that that the feelings of stuck-ness and overwhelm were temporary.  Just like the sensations in my hamstrings change through the course of my asana practice, so would those feelings of deep sadness and hopelessness...And you know what? They did.

Here's a brief practice to add to your stress-management toolbox, which focuses on opening the chest, shoulders, and even the side body to help us open up to our life force - our breath!

**This practice, like any other yoga/movement/meditation practice should not be used as a substitute for professional medical or psychological treatment. Please remember to be in touch with your healthcare provider.
