5 Minute Reset

As we near the end of the month and our exploration of meditation, I wanted to share with you a few things.
First: two quotes that I really love about meditation.
And second: an audio recording of a 5-minute meditation practice.
One thing I've learned over this last month is that our meditation practice, kind of like our asana practice, doesn't need to be a prescribed length in order to benefit us. In fact, shorter practices more consistently offer way more benefit than a long practice every once in a while. Just something to keep in mind if you decide to bring more meditation into your life.
So, here are the quotes:
Meditation is your personal experiment, performed in the laboratory of your own mind and body. Your practice will be inspired by teachers, and guided by the practices that the great explorers of meditation have handed down to us. Yet in the end, the form your practice takes is uniquely yours. (from “Letter to a new meditator”, by Sally Kempton, Yoga Journal, September 2010)
There is really and truly no one “right way” to practice, although there are pitfalls along this path too and they have to be looked out for. It is best to encounter each moment with freshness, its rich potential held in awareness. We look deeply into it, and then we let go into the next moment, not holding to the last one. Each moment then can be fresh, each breath a new beginning, a new letting go, a new letting be.…in the meditation practice, it is best to hold to and honor one’s own direct experience, and not worry too much about whether this is what you are supposed to feel or see or think about. Why not trust your experience in this moment just as you would trust your foot to find a way to keep you balanced as you move over rocks? (from Wherever You Go There You Are, by Jon Kabat-Zinn)
And the link the audio is here.
As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, or feedback.
Check out my classes here and let's move together!
