Technology Savasana

So...my computer died very unexpectedly on Friday.  I was using it all day on Thursday and then it froze.  I took that as a sign that it was time to stop working, and off I went to bed. The next morning when I turned it on it ran a bunch of scans trying to repair itself and retrieve data.  As it churned all day working hard to fix itself the final blow came when a message came up indicating that it couldn't find the hardware. So sad that my first laptop was gone.  The one thing I took from it was that all day Friday and Saturday I was forced to be away from the screen.  I could periodically check my email on my phone, but couldn't respond to anything at length.  I couldn't work on anything computer related, like this email or the newsletter, or do any online class promotion - scary, frustrating and stressful for sure,  but liberating as well.  And honestly, I felt a bit less frenetic and harried as I wasn't jumping from email to facebook to twitter to a word doc.  All I had was a notebook and a pen.

  

So my thought is why not try to take some time away from the computer screen today?  What would it be like to be away from your computer for 5, 15, or 30 minutes?  What else could you do with that time?  Close your eyes and give them a  break?  Breathe?  Read a book, write in a journal, take a walk?   Just a thought....have a great week everyone!
