So Grateful

Back in 2016, my word for the year was community, and three years later it is still a really important word and concept for me. I’m realizing now that it always has been. Being in a community, be it of singers, actors, dancers, runners, yoga teachers, yoga students, parents, friends is what excites me the most; I love being with a group of people who share common interests and values – I love that feeling of connection. I’ve sought it out since I can remember, and I still find myself craving to be in community, which is why I continue to teach group classes here in Northampton and in New York City twice a year. There is something so powerful and moving about sharing class with people who love yoga as much as I do, who are curious about movement and living a movement-rich life, and who want to move their bodies with awareness and live with more mindfulness.

When we are in community, we feel connected. And, when we feel connected, our hearts can open more freely. When our hearts open, we can more easily and readily experience moments of gratitude. I know that very simply being connected to the amazing yoga communities that I am part of has awakened in me a deep sense of gratitude - for the studios & spaces I teach in that invite me to teach what I love in a way that I feel is valuable, for the kind and welcoming students who allow me to share the practice with them, and for the generous teachers I teach alongside of. While each space and each class has its own unique energy and personality, they are each equally dear to me. From the bottom of my heart, I just wanted to share that I’m so very grateful to be in community with you all.

And, for me, it wouldn’t be a Bliss Bite if I didn’t invite you to explore this practice with me. So, take a moment now and think about all the groups and people you interact with in your professional and personal circles. Who do you feel most connected with? Who would you like to offer your gratitude to? Can you open your hearts and express that gratitude to them? I hope so!
