If you haven’t noticed, self- care is really important to me –and not just for me – FOR YOU! I want you to experience the nourishment, the fulfillment, the joy, and the energy that comes from radically taking good care of yourself.
In my opinion, self-care can be practiced in a variety of ways. Each one of us is different, so we each have different needs and find nourishment from different sources. Just the other day I was sitting in the lobby where Maddie was taking circus class, and these four women were talking with each other, exchanging stories, experiences, tips - laughing, enjoying each other, lighting up by this connection. You could feel the freedom and ease around them. In that moment I realized this was their version of self-care. Another woman on the other side of the room was knitting - gentle, calm relaxed movements creating the stitches to a gorgeous project. This was her version of self-care. I was writing - that was what I needed in that moment to take care of me.
Self-care is not a one-size-fits-all kind of thing. While there are definitely things we can all benefit from that might fall under the heading of self-care (think a good night’s sleep, a delicious, nourishing meal, a warm bath or shower), I think when we can find the things that light us up and put them on our self-care menu then we have the chance to experience deep fulfillment and a real sense of re-filling our wells and refueling ourselves.
A few days ago, I made a phone date with a dear friend of mine, and it felt so nourishing and relaxing to spend 90 minutes chatting and laughing, and simply connecting. When I got off the phone my heart felt full, and the fact that I didn’t do a few things on my to-do list didn’t feel as overwhelming as it normally would.
I’ve said it before, but I think it bears repeating… Take one moment right now and write down one small, simple thing that you would like to do for yourself this week and then put it in your schedule, and then do it. Put you back in your life.

Now, I truly believe that a Reiki training is vital to understand the depths of the practice and the tradition and lineage of it. However, I also feel that touch coming from care, respect, love and right intention can be healing. While this is by no means an instructional training on Reiki, this soothing practice can offer you inner quiet and peace on those days when you are feeling stressed out and depleted. Enjoy!
