Get Back to Green Tool Box

  • Stop talking, stop moving
  • Get down on the ground – sitting, even lying down, just to physically ground yourself
  • Take one breath and then another and then another – feel your breath moving in and out
  • Feel your feelings – whatever they are, as dark and mean and murky as they are
  • Acknowledge your feelings for as long as they last – if you are angry and pissed off, then stay with that  – say it to yourself, "I am angry and pissed off " for as long as you need to.  Air the feelings to help diffuse them.
  • Breathe some more – full, gentle breaths
  • Move your body when you feel ready – take a walk, or a run, or do some yoga – something to get the pent up energy out of you and to shift you out of your brain and back into your body
  • If need be do a few Lion’s Breaths to help you relieve any sensation of needing to say more – or relieve you of the feelings of anything hurtful you did say.
  • Sit and place one hand on your heart, one hand on your belly – close eyes and breathe – come back to center.

Once you honestly feel like you are back to Green proceed from there.
