Double Down on the Good!

As we draw toward the end of another year and reflect on 2016, it's so tempting to focus on all the things that didn’t go the way we hoped, with the intention of fixing them to make 2017 even better.  And while I agree on learning and growing from our mistakes, I’m curious about looking at things from a slightly different perspective.

When I was acting, one of my favorite and most inspiring and influential teachers encouraged my classmates and me to look at our auditions and performances through the lens of:

“What worked?”
“What could have worked better?”
“What I am going to do next time.”

This little shift in language and even the order of the questions brought a huge shift in my mental outlook.  No longer was I beating myself up after every audition, because I was actually acknowledging that something did in fact work and what it was - what a concept!  And by looking at would could have worked better, it opened up the space in a more concrete and positive way to explore and improve, rather than merely saying, “That was a lousy audition!”  Where do you go from there?

So, I invite you to look at everything that worked in 2016 – from your personal life to your work-life to your yoga and meditation practices. What brought you joy, laughter, happiness, fullness, a sense of focus and groundedness? Make that list first, and as all the business coaches are saying these days, double down on that for 2017.  Make room for and do more of the things that worked and brought you joy and abundance.  Then of course, make your list of what could have worked better and from there you can figure out how you want to design and shape 2017.

Be sure to head on over to our Facebook page and share with our community what worked for you in 2016 so we can see what you plan to grow more of in 2017.

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season and all good things this coming year!

Peace, Love, and Bliss,
Beth

P.S. I am starting t put together my Bliss Bites for the next few months. Let me know what you need support with or are curious about, so I can tailor them to your needs!
