Ditch the slump

How is your shift from summer to fall going? Ours is going great! But I have noticed I’m spending a bit more time at the computer, and Jonathan is sitting more and more, grading papers. So overall, lots more sitting and lots more chances to slump and slouch. Not so great!

When we let the slump take over, the spine rounds and collapses, the shoulders start to round forward, and the head can start to jut forward. Not only does all of this lead to poor posture, but these kinds of sitting habits can lead to:

 - Decreased ability to breathe freely and fully

 - Weakened upper back muscles

 - Tighter and shortened chest and abdominal muscles

 - Shoulder pain

 - Headaches

…to name a few.

Check out this brief practice to help you find some strength and mobility in the spine, shoulders and neck. In less than 10 minutes you can start feeling stronger and more spacious! Enjoy!
