Chakra 6: What do you really see?

My experience, as we climb up the chakra ladder, is that our work becomes a little more subtle.  Working with our lower chakras encouraged us to get grounded and take care of our basic needs; get fired up and awaken to our creativity and inner power.  The 6th chakra, however, asks us to go in and get quiet and simply listen. Easier said than done :-)

The 6th chakra, Ajna, lies between our eyebrows.  It’s also called our third eye.  This chakra is sometimes called the “perception center” as it has to do with our intuition.  I find it to be a very “inward” facing energy center.

Any time you meditate, or visualize, or dream you are potentially awakening this energy center and bringing it toward balance.  Nightmares, hallucinations, even headaches, however, might be indicators that the chakra is overstimulated.  Feeling stuck or resistant to new ideas, having difficulty concentrating, remembering, or even visualizing might be signs that that this chakra is under-stimulated or deficient in some way. When our 6th Chakra is in balance you might feel mentally calm and clear, in touch with your intuition, able to trust your inner voice/teacher.  Sounds good, right?!

As you practice, I encourage you to close your eyes whenever you feel comfortable and confident to do so.  Closing our eyes, not only turns our attention more inward, but it helps create a wonderful environment for our other senses to kick in.
