You Matter

Whew! We are really moving into winter!  In fact, our first snow fall happened right before Thanksgiving, a full month before the official start to winter.

 

As we move into this festive, exciting and busy time of year, it’s so important to remember to make yourself a priority.  As you buy and make gifts for your loved ones, remember to give to yourself the gift of self-care.

 

What does that mean exactly?  Essentially, make sure you do some of the things that feel good to you; that nourish you; that make you feel happy and taken care of; things that make you feel like the best version of you.  Maybe it’s getting a massage, or taking a long hot bath, or reading, or taking a yoga class…the list could go on.   Everybody’s different, so take a few minutes to simply jot down a few of your favorite things to do.

   
  1. Get a pen and paper – and if you’re really into the spirit of this, get a fun colored pen and piece of nice paper.
  2. Set a timer for 5 minutes.
  3. Keep your pen on the paper and just write down some of your favorite things to do for yourself.Don’t think about it too much, or analyze, or judge, or even figure out if/when you might be able to do it.Just write.
  4. After the 5 minutes are up, look at your list and pick your top 3 to 5 things to do.
  5. See if you can set special times to incorporate them into your schedule.
 

Make sure you approach this with the intention of taking care of yourself so it doesn’t feel like one more thing to do. And most of all have fun!
