Awaken to your Light!

Dear friends,

The holidays are just around the corner and winter officially starts today -  Happy Winter Solstice!

As we move toward the longest night and the dark we are reminded that on the other side of the darkest day we move back toward light.  As we approach the joy, excitement, and busyness of the holidays and move through the dark and cold of winter it’s important to remember to slow down and take some time to get still and quiet, and  go inward – to go in to the dark and move toward the light within you..

Here are a few easy things you can do for yourself to stay tuned in to you when things feel a little overwhelming as the holidays and the new year approach:

  • Create a quiet space – it could be a room or a portion of a room. If you like candles, light candles, if you like music, play music – set up your space in a way that makes you feel happy and supported.
  • Sit and just breathe. Simply feel what it feels like to sit consciously. Simply feel what it feels like to breathe consciously.
  • If you have a little more time and a few simple props hanging around – set yourself  up in Supta Baddha Konasana (reclined bound angle pose)
  • Place one hand on your belly and one on your heart. In our hearts is the light that makes each of us  unique and special.  It's also where our passions lie - the light that ultimately guides us through life. In our bellies is the fire that fuels our passions.  That fire keeps us moving toward our passions even when things seem dark, uncertain  or challenging.. Let your breath, the weight and warmth  of your hands and your awareness of these two sources of light, bring them into harmony.

What do you want to shine a light on in 2016?  Feel free to share on our Facebook page!

Peace, Love, and Bliss,

Beth
