Happy March! Last week
was one of those up and down weeks. The up was having Jonathan home for
mid-winter break. The down was losing Maddie Rose’s long-time lovey, “Meow”. It
was hard on all of us. Meow, who has been with Maddie since she was about 3
weeks old, brought her such comfort and security.
I was so sad for Maddie - not only because Meow was missing, but because I felt like Maddie lost some of her 4 ½ year old innocence as she faced deep loss and grief for the first time. We were all in a state of mourning, in a way, as we kept looking for Meow, denying that she could really be lost, sharing tears over her being missing, and wondering where she could be (Did she fall out of the car? Had she been blown down the street? Did a car run over her?).
Maddie Rose surprised me, however, as she found other ways to soothe herself with a familiar baby blanket. She summoned great strength those first few nights, getting herself to sleep without the comfort of her favorite lovey. Her strength, courage, and resiliency really inspired me, and reminded me of the strength and resiliency we all have deep down.
In times of trouble, sorrow, and loss we can certainly retreat and go into deep despair, but if we dig a little deeper we will find that reserve of fortitude, will, and courage to put one foot in front of the other and keep going – even while holding that sorrow or fear in our heart. And we are seeing this in action at marches and rallies as we summon the strength and courage to stand up and fight for what we believe in – as we come together to support, love, and protect each other and to protect what America should stand for.
To awaken and reconnect with your inner strength and courage check out these 3 poses. They are designed to connect you with your third chakra (energy center) – the seat of our strength, courage, and our right to act.
Let’s stay strong and resilient in the face of all of life’s challenges, so that we can meet them – no matter how big or small – with grace and courage.
Peace, Love, and Bliss,
P.S. –our week ended on a high note, when our beloved Meow was found! To whomever found her at the Y and brought her to their lost and found – we send you a big thank you! It was a loving and joyful reunion!
